Program Statement
At Children’s Day Out Playschool, emotional well-being is at the heart of our approach. We help children develop emotional regulation skills by modeling empathy, providing consistent support, and teaching strategies to identify and manage feelings. This focus allows children to build strong relationships and develop resilience in a safe and inclusive setting.
Children’s Day Out Playschool is a part time care program model, with students attending 2-3 days a week for the full day. Our hours of operation are 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. with a mixed age group of students from 19 months to 5 years old.
Here at CDO we believe that children learn best through play. Our program is rooted in the principles of play-based learning, where exploration, creativity, and imagination form the foundation of every experience. We create a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, self-expression, and an understanding of emotional intelligence and resilience.
Each child in our program is capable, competent, and full of potential. Our educators are intentional in designing play experiences that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Through open-ended play, children are empowered to ask questions, solve problems, and make discoveries at their own pace.
Our commitment is to foster a joyful, responsive, and respectful environment where children are encouraged to explore the world around them and grow into confident, curious, and emotionally aware individuals.
Our History
Children’s Day Out Playschool was formed in 1978 by a group of parents interested in providing a safe and stimulating play environment for their children. The program was developed to be a co-operative program, meaning parent participation ensured a program that met the needs of its members and remained affordable. Today we still rely on parent involvement through volunteering and our elected board of directors. Our executive board is made up of elected parent members who work closely with our knowledgeable executive director and dedicated teaching staff to help the program thrive. Together, they make decisions that support the society as a whole.
